Visual arts auction @ Northumbria University


	About the auction Final year students from Fine Art and Contemporary Photographic Practice will be holding their annual auction of original artworks on Wednesday 3rd December, at the Venue, Student Union Building, Northumbria University. The auction is open to all and is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a unique art work before these budding artists are discovered by the outside world. Many of our graduating students have gone on to establish themselves professionally in the region, as well as nationally and internationally. Will you be able to spot the stars of the future? Work by final year students, staff and invited artists that will be going under the hammer will include drawings, paintings, photographs, prints and sculpture. If you have got an Athena print hanging on your wall this is your chance to replace it with a real piece of art at probably a very similar cost. All your Christmas present dilemmas could be solved. Work can be previewed at leisure on 27th and 28th November in Gallery North PS, Ground Floor, Squires Annexe. As well as viewing all the work prior to the auction, you will also be able to submit a sealed bid if you spot something you really like. Bidding on the night will commence promptly at 6:30pm on 3rd December. I hope you will be able to join us for what is always a very exciting evening. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Degree Shows in June. About the online auction This online auction allows initial bids to be made on the work that will be sold at the visual arts auction event on Wednesday December 3rd 2008 @ Venue, Northumbria University. The online auction is an opportunity to view and bid on the work featured in this. There will also be an official preview event on Thursday 27th November and Friday 28th November 9.30 AM – 4.30 PM @ Gallery North, Northumbria University where you can view all the artworks in person. The highest bid from the online auction will go forward as a reserve bid for the auction event Wednesday 3rd December 2008. It will not be the open bid. Online bidding opening time – Thursday November 27th 2008 - 9.00 AM Online bidding closing time – Tuesday December 2nd 2008 – 6.00 PM Auction preview Thursday 27th November and Friday 28th November 2008 - 9.00 AM – 4.30 PM Bids can be made in person here. Please note the auction is for UK residents only. All work must be collected from the event itself. If this is not at all possible e.g. you live outside of Newcastle, then postage and packing must be paid on the item. This price will vary depending on the work. Photography is for guidance only. Dimensions are in cm. Drawings, collage/mixed media, prints and photographs are framed and therefore the prices include the frames. Paintings are unframed.
